Dr. Shen is a Southern California native. He attended Los Altos High School where he was the valedictorian of his class. He then continued his schooling at Dartmouth College where he graduated with an Honors Major in Mathematics and Social Sciences. He also completed a Minor in Chemistry. Dr. Shen then returned to the west coast to pursue medical school at The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.
While at USC, Dr. Shen was awarded a prestigious research fellowship by the NIH to study the genetics of hearing loss. His mentor was Dr. Rick Friedman, MD PhD of the House Ear Clinic. Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Shen began his residency training in General Surgery at the LAC+USC Medical Center. After two years of surgical residency, he completed a five year training program in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
Dr. Shen is now practicing exclusively in the Pasadena area. His affiliations include Huntington Memorial Hospital and Arcadia Methodist Hospital. He is the Chief of Head & Neck Surgery at both Huntington Memorial Hospital and Arcadia Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Shen is fluent in Spanish, Mandarin, and Taiwanese in addition to English. Our support staff speaks several other languages as well.
