I grew up in Hong Kong, and immigrated to southern California with my family when I was 10 years old. I speak Cantonese fairly fluently. I lived in Portland, Oregon for 4 years, where I fell in love with hiking and photography. I made northern California my home in 2002. I love to travel; to experience different cultures and to see things from a new perspective.
Being a Pulmonary Critical Care doctor has enriched my life. I work full time in the intensive care unit. I treat patients with a wide range of medical problems. I perform a variety of procedures, ranging from thoracentesis to tracheostomy, to bronchoscopy with lung biopsies. The ICU team consists of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and patient care coordinators. Together, we ensure that our patients and their families are cared for physically, spiritually, and emotionally during this difficult time in their lives.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002, as a Hospital Based Medicine physician at the facility on Morse Avenue. I then finished a 3-year Pulmonary Critical Care fellowship at UC Davis, and rejoined Kaiser Permanente in South Sacramento in 2006. Having experienced a variety of health care systems throughout my training, I feel that Kaiser Permanente has an excellent model of integrated care. Regardless of your current state of health, I will do my best to work with you and to help improve your quality of life.
