Mr. Hsieh is conversant in Chinese (Mandarin), and represents a number of Asian owned or operated businesses, including Taiwan-based multinational companies and their U.S. subsidiaries.
In his insurance practice, Mr. Hsieh has counseled both policyholders and insurers on a wide range of coverages, including issues involving technology, multimedia, errors and omissions (E&O) and commercial general liability (CGL) policies. Mr. Hsieh has also defended and prosecuted numerous insurance coverage claims, including bad faith claims.
After spending three years as an electrical engineering major, Mr. Hsieh earned his B.A. degree in philosophy from U.C.L.A. He earned his J.D. degree in 1994 from U.C. Hastings College of the Law, where he was a notes editor of the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review and received American Jurisprudence Awards for Contracts and Evidence Advocacy. At Hastings, he was an extern for Chief Judge Thelton Henderson of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Prior to starting private practice at Cooper, White & Cooper LLP, Mr. Hsieh served as a law clerk for Judge David Garcia and Judge William Cahill in the San Francisco County Superior Court.
Mr. Hsieh served two terms as the President of the Contra Costa County Barristers Association, and was also a representative to the Contra Costa County Bar Association's Board of Directors.
